HUD Big Buy Reimbursement Program Eligibility PDF Print E-mail

In 2000, HUD created the Big Buy Reimbursement Program to reimburse eligible properties for some or all of the cost of obtaining a lead hazard risk assessment required to comply with the Lead Safe Housing Rule (24 CFR Part 35).  MAHMA urges all members to view the attached document to determine if any of their properties are listed.  If a property is listed it is still eligible for the program.  However, you are encouraged to act quickly.  The program is scheduled to end on September 30.

The program was originally open to all qualified properties, and HUD contracted with certain certified risk assessors to provide property evaluations across the country.

Members who signed up for the program and remain eligible (receive more than $5,000 in federal assistance) may still be able to receive a lead inspection or reimbursement for an already completed inspection.   HUD has provided a list of eligible properties

If your property is on the list but has not been contacted by HUD about the reimbursement, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  HUD officials warn that they may not have sufficient funds to meet the obligation, however.
