THE MIDWEST AFFORDABLE HOUSING MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (MAHMA) is a professional association representing owners and managers of affordable housing throughout Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
We are a regional organization with grassroots support from local, regional and national affiliations. Through our liaison with THE NATIONAL AFFORDABLE HOUSING MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (NAHMA), our members benefit from the tremendous support and legislative work that is provided by the working partnership of the national HUD offices and other government, and community agencies. Final Rent & Income Determination Rule |
|
On December 29, 2009, HUD released the final rule, "Refinement of Income and Rent Determination Requirements in Public and Assisted Housing Programs: Implementation of the Enterprise Income Verification System-Amendments; Final Rule," which is now posted to NAHMA's HUD webpage. It is effective January 31, 2010.

As part of the Obama Administration's effort to promote transparency and openness, HUD recently added the overall REAC Physical Inspection Scores to the HUD USER website, available by clicking here: http://www.huduser.org/portal/datasets/pis.html
As of December 22, 2009, inspections conducted from 2001 through September 2009 are available online and can be downloaded as a data set. Separate datasets are also available for public housing and for multifamily assisted properties. |

2010 Housing Investment Fund Notice of Funding Availability |
|
The Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) is pleased to announce the availability of funding through the Housing Investment Fund, an innovative funding program for affordable housing projects. The deadline for submitting letters of intent is 5:00PM February 22, 2010. Further information regarding the letter of intent requirements is provided in the Housing Investment Fund Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA). The NOFA can be found here. |

Refinement of Income Proposed Rule |
|
Below is a summary of the Proposed Amendments to the Final Rule for Refinement of Income and Rent Determination published 10/15/09. See the below RHIIP Listserv and the attachment to view the document in its entirety.
1. Exempts current participants age 62 and older as of 01/31/2010 from disclosure of SSN.
2. Exempts current participants who have previously disclosed SSN having to re-provide their SSN for duplicate verification.
3. Permits documentation-SSN card, original documents from other Federal or State government that has other identifying information, however this information must be verified through EIV.
4. Provides owners with the ability to give a 90-day extension for unseen circumstances - related only to children under 6 and new household members-SSN disclosure.
5. EIV will not be delayed, required implementation date 01/31/2010.
6. Must use EIV in its entirety as a third party source to verify income/employment at AR's.
7. Withdraws the 01/27/09 amendments to non-citizen regulations. HUD leaves in place the requirements codified in 24CFR part 5, subpart E. Any changes to non-citizen regulations would come under a separate rule making.
8. Withdraws the 01/27/09 amendment change to Annual Income. HUD will maintain the current definition of Annual Income. Any change would come under a separate rule making.
